8 Weeks Old!

Sorry I have not been posting this past week...we have been a little busy and I have just be exhausted in the middle of the night when I normally do my posting lately....I bet had I tried to post it would have made no sense at all:).....

Well, Miss E is 8 weeks old today! I can't believe it....she is growing so much! If you saw the "Saturday Snapshot" post you saw how tiny she was when she was in that first week of life.

Today was quite a busy day because she decided that she did not want to really nap....therefore I did not get to nap either! She slept a little here and there but not for very long....

Well this week she and I decided to go on our first outing without daddy....we went to the Sonic and then to WalMart. We got back home just in time to eat....now that took some planning! Then yesterday my fried Jenn and her daughter Hope came over and we were going to go run an errand....we are in the store and guess who decides they are hungry...well, in the end Jenn sat in the car with E so that I could exchange a couple of E's outfits and then we came back home....that one I did not plan quite as well...I was quite thankful Jenn was with me or I would have had to go back to the store later....and who knows when that would be.

Well here is E's 8 week picture. I actually took this picture yesterday so she was 7 weeks 6 days...is she not the cutest little girl!

7 Weeks Old!!!

Ella is 7 weeks old today! This post will actually publish today at 2:23...the time she made her appearance into this world. She is getting so big....I am guessing she is getting close to 9 pounds since she was 8 pounds 11 1/2 ounces last Tuesday.

You may be wondering if Ella wears the same thing all the time....well the answer would be yes and no....she still can not wear all the newborn stuff she has....and the 0-3 month is really big on her....so I am always taking pictures of her in the things that fit her right now...I know we are going to wake up one morning and all the little things she wears right now are going to be too small...just like when she outgrew her preemie clothes...one day they fit her and the next day they were getting to small. I just went through lots of Kate's clothes to see what might be in there that would fit her...so she should be growing into all that soon and then you will see her in all kinds of outfits!!!!

Almost A Pound In Just A Week!

Tuesday I had an appointment with the lactation consultant. When I called to get the appointment they had a couple in the eight o'clock hour or a 10:30....I thought for a few minutes because E's feeding time is 9:00....now that would be a good time to be there since we would want to feed her there but I thought "Can we really get up, dressed and to the doctor's office by 8 something??? So, I decided to take the 10:30....and guess what....we were up dressed and I even had time to wash bottles and boil nipples...oh my goodness...now we did not have alot of extra time to spare but that is an accomplishment at my house...then at 10:00 I got Ea dressed and off we went...I told Keith later I wish I could get that much done every morning...

Well, they always weigh her and I am always anxiously awaiting to see what her weight is...are you ready for this...she was 8 pounds 11 1/2 ounces! Yes, she has gone up almost a pound in just a week...last week she was 7 pounds 12 ounces....as we were waiting for the nurse yesterday it came to me...Ea is finally as big as Kate was when she was born...Kate was 8 pounds 12 ounces....

So, our appointment was at 10:30...after seeing the lactation nurse then we were moved to another room because I had a few questions (concerns)...we talked with one of the other nurses then saw one of the doctors for a few minutes and then left...we got in the car...Keith looked at his watch...it was 1:00! So, we came home..I heated up leftovers from last night (thanks Linda!) we ate...and then my friend Dena came by...of course I forgot to take a picture of Dena and E...I even told Dena that I needed to get a picture of the two of them before she left...so I will just have to make sure I do that next time she is here! Later in the evening my friend Asa stopped by....guess what...no picture again....

Today, my goal is to make it to the grocery store....we have been so blessed to be provided with meals and I have not had to cook. Thanks Jenn for setting that up. It has been such a blessing because I do not know when either of us would have had time to cook a meal...it would have been alot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for me and bologne sandwiches for Hubby...(when we eat sandwiches that is each of our favorite) Our meals ended this week so it is time for me to start cooking again. I am going to try and come up with quick and easy meals....we really like casseroles so I am hoping to find some new casserole recipes. If you have any quick and easy recipes I would love for you to send them to me!!!

Of course I can not post without leaving a picture of E....we are still working on E's room but here is a picture of her in her bed...the sheets are from Kate's bedding....I still have to get sheets to match E's stuff...the bumper pad is from Kate's bedding as well and we are using it but we are not doing the fish theme(like on the sheets) in E's room.

6 Weeks Old!!!

Ok, here I go again....I can't believe E is 6 weeks old....it seems just like yesterday I was in the operating room waiting to hear if I had a little girl or a little boy....I can still hear Dr. A say "It's A Girl"! I still think about that day all the time and it seems just like yesterday....

She is such a joy! This past weekend has been hard because I have been sick and not able to love on her as much as I would like...Hubby has really been taking care of her a lot this weekend because I really did not want to expose her to whatever I have more than we have to and he was also letting me get some rest...both of us praying that I get well really fast!!!!

Well, yesterday (Sunday) E moved up from her newborn diapers to size 1 diapers! They look so big on her (but so did the newborn diapers when she was born).

My Furry Baby....

Sadie is adjusting to having to share our time with E. For 3 years she has had our undivided attention and then suddenly there is this little person in our house that cries and she sees us holding her all the time....so the other night Hubby was sitting in a chair in the living room when Sadie decided to crawl up in his lap....(she is an 80something pound lap dog by the way)....anyway, I grabbed my camera and started clicking....this is what I got....

I must have gotten Hubby as he was blinking his eyes, but I had to include this picture...she had climbed up in his lap and flipped over on her back....she has really been watching us hold E:)hahah.....

She was not sure she wanted her picture made....she decided to turn her head and rest it that way for a while...

She is probably thinking "finally, I am getting my time"......

Just relaxing....and probably watching TV....

A New Cologne

E has started spitting up lately. We have talked to her doctor about it and I guess it is just normal for some babies. Well, as most of you know that when a baby spits up frequently there is no way that mom can just change clothes everytime....I mean some days that is what I would spend my day doing.....and then it hit me....this is just like my new cologne. It is better than any I could ever buy....and for those of you that know me know that I really do like my cologne but my new cologne is the greatest ever. I know that I will not be able to wear this forever so I am enjoying everyday that I get to wear it....we have to cherish every little moment because they really do grow up fast.

Lunch with friends

Yesterday I had a doctors appointment near my office. After the appointment Keith mentioned going to lunch and asked if I wanted to call a friend of mine from work to meet us. While we were waiting at the restaurant one of the partners from the firm I work for came in and got to meet Ella. Below is a picture of 2 of my co-workers. Today was the first time they got to meet Ella.

Prayer Request

**UPDATE - I just saw on the blog linked to in this post that this precious little girl went to be with Jesus tonight. Please remember this family in your prayers.....

Through the blog world I have found out there are so many people that have sick babies or have lost children. I have been keeping up with a little girl that was born on Tuesday who is very sick and in the NICU. Her moms name is Katie and you can read about her here. Please remember this little girl and her family in your prayers.

As most of you know my heart just breaks when I hear about a sick baby. I know that E was so prayed for (by people that knew me and people that did not know me) from the moment so many found out I was pregnant through the day she was born. There was actually a group of friends that I called the Baby Prayer Team. There were friends praying for the baby girl that we lost last September as well. I also know that Kate was prayed for by so many people after she was born. I do believe in the power of prayer and I realize that sometimes our prayers are not always answered in the way we want them to be.

Also, remember all the people who have lost their jobs. I have a sweet friend whose husband recently lost his job and know that your prayers for them would be much appreciated to.

5 Weeks Old & 7 Pounds 12 Ounces!!

Monday E turned 5 weeks old and she had her 1 month well visit. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long.....so she has gained 2 pounds 1 ounce since birth and has grown 3 inches!!!

We have been so blessed that Hubby has been able to work from home since E was born. I know that will not last forever but I have been so grateful that he has been here most all the time. Well, on Tuesday he had to work away from the house so that was the longest period of time that it has just been me and E. E was so good on Tuesday. She pretty much just would eat and sleep! I got alot done....well, alot compared to what I have done the past 5 weeks anyway. I got dressed, washed lots of clothes, and cleaned the kitchen. Ok, as all you new moms out there know that is a lot.....because all of this was between feedings! At 2:00 I finally layed down and then it was time for her 3:00 feeding.....and that is when the fun began!!!

I was feeding her and had the TV on. Well, it was time to burp her so I was rubbing her back and realized that my hand felt wet. Now, E has been spitting up lately and I thought to myself, why is my hand wet...she did not just spit up.....and as I was turning her around to look it hit me....yes, she had a dirty diaper that had gone up her back!!!! I thought for a second about what are my options and off to her bathroom we go...the only thing I could think of was give her a bath.....I had just gotten upstairs and Hubby called so I quickly called him back to see if he was almost home....he was at least an hour away.....so I gave E a bath....first time I have done that all by myself....Hubby and I normally give her a bath in the evenings.....so that was my real accomplishment for the day.....forget all the other stuff.....cleaning house, etc....the real accomplishment for me was taking care of my precious little girl.

I have only left E a couple of times since we have been home from the hospital and that was just to run to WalMart. Last night was stamp club so I mentioned it to Hubby and he said for me to go.....so I told him I would see how tired I was closer to 7:00 and what all I needed to get done at home....well, I ended up going and had fun....I did feel guilty leaving E though....Hubby said she did fine.....and I was only gone a little over 2 hours.

One Month Old!

E turned a month old last Thursday. I can't believe we have had her here with us for a month already. She is such a joy. A true miracle from God.

Where Have We Been????

Where have we been? BUSY!!! We have actually had company for the past week. Last Friday, Hubby's parents came in and stayed until Tuesday morning. Then two of my friends, Doris and Pam came in Wednesday night and stayed with us until Friday morning and then Friday afternoon Marsha and Brad came in and stayed until yesterday. So that is why I have not really had time to update the blog.....we have been quite busy this week. E also went to the doctor last Monday and she weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces!!! Another exciting thing that happened was Hubby painted E's room. We finally decided on a color and just in time since Doris and Pam came.....since decorating is what they do everyday...they worked on E's room.
