A Busy Weekend

Wow, I can't believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and then it will be Christmas. This weekend we both are very busy working in different ministires of our church. Hubby is helping in the 3E Giveaway.....which is a missional outreach here in McKinney. This is an awesome way to reach out to those in need this holiday season. There are lots of things going on there today.....a "giveaway" garage sale....where there is no price tag the items are there for people that need them to take....people will be able to have their hair and nails done....food....and then things for the kids as well. That is what he is doing...they are doing a Kid's Production. They have been working on it for at least a month (probably longer). That is his gift and passion...running the sound and video for different church activities. I read an article talking about the 3E Giveaway and really liked this quote...."The most important thing to remember is it’s NOT about the Stuff; it’s about the hearts of those we get to touch through this exciting ministry. This is an incredible opportunity to provide “Blessings from One Person to another.” Ok, I did not see a name as to who this quote belongs to - so that I could give them credit....it was on the website for one of the churches participating in 3E this weekend. It is great to see so many people reaching out right here in our own mission field in Mckinney!!

Disciple Now is also going on this weekend. For those of you who read my blog that do not attend my church and may be wondering what is Disciple Now it is a youth event held each year. Our church has DNow in November each year. The kids are assigned to different "host homes" and then their are food coordinators for each host home. My Bible Study group has provided food for two host homes the past two years. We have a great time doing this together. We split the menu up and then we do a lot of cooking and baking....last night I made roughly 150 brownies.....

Tomorrow we will put "Kate's Village" out. I am so excited. Each year our friends Gretchen and David come over and the 4 of us work on the village and then on a different weekend we go to their house and the 4 of us work on their village. This is a tradition that we started in 2005. We have such a great time designing our cities each year. Next week we are going to their house to design their city.....I guess when we get our villages out it seems like the "official" start of the holiday season.
