Happy Birthday To Our Little Princess! (Post 1 of 2)

Wow, I can't believe it has been 3 years!  It really does seem just like yesterday that my doctor walked in my hospital room and hubby said, I am guessing it must be good news and she said yes, the lungs are ready and we can do a C-Section at 2:00.  It was around lunch time when she came by so everything went very quickly at that point.  I remember hubby calling people and sending out an email that we were on for 2:00.  We quickly gathered the things in my room and the nurse came to wheel me to labor and delivery.  Quickly the waiting room began filling up anticipating the arrival of "Junior".

Hubby and I waited while they prepped me to take me back for my C-Section....I do remember them having to change out my IV.....I am NOT a fan of being stuck at all!  I remember our pastor at the time (he has now moved to another church) called us while we were in the room waiting.  He was out of town but had heard that the baby was about to be born so he called to pray with us.  That meant SO MUCH to both Keith and me.  He spoke at Kate's funeral and then he did the Princess baby dedication.  He may no longer be at our church but hubby and I will always remember him and his family.  I remember the first Sunday we took the Princess to church....she was around 2 months old and we were walking down a hall leaving and he passed by and then stopped and backed up and said something like this is her first Sunday here isn't it.  Yes, it was her first Sunday...we do not go to a small church...so for him to recognize that just showed us again what a wonderful pastor he is and one that really connected to the congregation.

It was finally time for me to go back to the operating room.  They took me back before they let hubby come back.  After my epidural my doctor came in the room to check on me and I remember telling her I was nervous or scared or something like that.  I think we were all ready for "Junior" to get here. I was 36weeks 3days at this point.  We knew "Juniors" lungs were ready.  We did have the full NICU team in the delivery room though just in case.  We did not know there was anything wrong with Kate until delivery so to give everyone a little peace of mind they were with us waiting for the arrival.

My doctor came back in and few minutes later they brought hubby in.  The time had finally come.  We were having another baby!  I don't know if either of us could even write down the feelings and emotions we were feeling at that moment.

After a few minutes at 2:23 pm my doctor said "IT'S A GIRL"!  I could not believe it!  Another girl!!  Here is a picture of Hubby with the clock before him showing the time she was born.

I would hear her crying and then she would stop and I kept asking over and over when she was not crying why she wasn't.  I think they kept telling me it was ok.  The NICU doctor checked her out and they said she did need to go to the NICU because she was breathing a little fast and that it was really a normal thing though for babies born at that gestational age.  I knew it was different this time though because they brought her to me and let me hold her and took pictures of us before taking her up to the NICU.

Our first family picture with the Princess!

She was finally here!  A little girl!  Little did we know it would take us several days to name her and she would be in the hospital 12 days (her breathing was ok within just a little while but then they realized that she could not eat yet....she was a lazy eater) but we finally had a healthy  5 pound 11 ounce baby girl!
