My first post of the day is actually 2 pages over.....and guess what I HAVE BEEN TAGGED!!!!! Now I have to find I believe 5 people to tag!!

Goodnight, I will most likely be posting again tomorrow!

Sadie Turns "2"

Our little Sadie turned 2 on April 25th......short story about the day she was born....we got Sadie when she was between 3 - 4 months old......we made an appointment for her and took her to the vet to have her checked out.....we had not really paid attention to her actual birth date but we knew she was born in April and that was it.....as we were sitting in the examination room at the vet's office waiting on the vet to come in I was just looking at her paperwork where she had seen her initial vet and realized that she was born on the 25th of April, that was the same day that our Roxie was born on.....for those of you that do not know we had a Rottweiler that belonged to Hubby before we got married that was like a child to us....Roxie passed away on December 28, 2003. You know since I think there must be dogs in heaven I sometimes think of how Roxie and Kate must play together and one day they will be reunited with their mommy & daddy....

We did not celebrate Sadie's birthday until the following Saturday night, May 3rd. Sadie had a Cowgirl Birthday Party. We invited her little pals that she plays with....Elvis, Noel & Holly......there have been several post on her little playdates in the past with these 3 pals.....although we have never had them all 3 over at the same time until last Saturday....they were so cute all playing out in the back yard......well, what is a birthday without birthday cake and icecream? So, for the non-canines we grilled, had chips and dip and birthday cake and ice cream! For the little canines, they had lots and lots of water and homemade dog biscuits that I made and cut out using cookie cutters in the shape of a cowboy hat, cowboy boot and state of Texas (Thanks to my friend Dena that found them while she was out of town the beginning of last week!! Thanks again Dena!)

So, Elvis has 2 non-canine brothers.....they are around 5 & 8 and then Noel and Holly have 2 non-canine sisters around 8 and 10ish....I am probably really messing up on all of their ages....I will correct them as soon as their moms email me with the right ages.....anyway, their little treat bags consisted of a ball that sticks on the wall and a pack of jacks.....how long has it been since you played jacks??? I need to go get me a pack of jacks!!

Sadie's pals got to go home with a bag of homemade dog biscuits, just like the ones they had at Sadie's party and then I made a frame for each of them to put a picture of Sadie and the dog the frame belongs to in.....

Sadie's party was a lot of fun! Here are some pictures from her party!!!

"Catch & Release"

As I was writing my last post about the book I just read " Same Kind of Different As Me"....I continued typing in that post but decided to make it a separate post......so I cut it out of the inital post and started this one.....this book was NOT on grieving the loss of a child but there was a pharse in the book that made me think about friendships in my own life and the way things change when life changes.....Maybe there is someone out there reading this that needs to know you are not walking the journey of grief alone.....sometimes there are people around you that you do not even know are wearing the same shoes and walking right beside you traveling the same road as you are.

One of the things Denver said in the book "Same Kind of Different As Me" really made me think.....he told Ron how he had heard some people "Catch & Release" when they fish......and he told him that if that was the kind of friendship he wanted that he did not want to be friends with him. That if he said he was his friend, he was his friend forever! How often do we "Catch & Release" our friends. I know that through all that we have been through in the past 2 1/2 (+) years so many of the dynamics of friendships have changed. There are several friendships that have not changed though..except for the fact our friendship has grown stronger....I realize those are not "Catch & Release" Friendships. We have also made new friends along this journey......people that would have probably never been placed in our lives had it not been for Kate's death..so I consider those friendships that God intended for us to have....and thank God for those friendships....the friends that have been where I am and understand this pain in my heart...and feel as though they will be life long friendships...and I pray those friendships continue to grow stronger and stronger as time goes by......God knows what we need...... Last night at the Early Angels Dessert I was just listening as some of the ladies shared the struggles they have faced through their loss/losses. One was talking about how the dynamics of friendships had changed....how they had gotten to the point of having to go out and make new friends.....I can so empathize with those ladies....knowing that at a time in life when you can barley even remember to get out of bed (and at times if someone did not make you, you would stay there forever) others are wondering why you are not doing what they want you to do.......why you are not giving 100% of yourself.....it is impossible when you are experiencing the grief that someone experiences after the loss of a child. I can tell you that the sadness one feels will never totally go away, and you may wonder how I can say that only being a little over 2 1/2 years down the road.....I am still sad Kate is not here and as I talk with others that are further down the road they will tell you that it never goes completely away.....those of us who have lost a child will forever be wearing the shoes of someone who has a baby or babies in heaven.
There are several scriptures that have become dear to me through my journey of grief.....scriptures that I still cling to and always will.....one of those scriptures would be

Jeremiah 29: 11-13.

(11)For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (12)Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (13)You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. (14)I will be found by you," declares the Lord, and will bring you back from captivity.

So often I think we read verse 11 & 12 For I know the plans I have for you......and then anytime we have trials in our lives we pray for God's help.....
but what about verse 13...."You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart"......WOW.......how often we seek God during the bad times but when times turn back around and are good are we still seeking him.....my prayer is to seek him everyday...and verse 14 says I will be found by you...When we seek God with ALL of our hearts HE is going to help us in whatever way HE has planned...one thing we always have to remember, which is not an easy thing is HE has the blueprint of our life in front of Him, we do not..we just have to have faith and trust in God that it is all part of His plan.......the lyrics to a song written by Zach Neese that we sing at church go like this.....

The more I seek You
The more I find You
The more I find You
The more I love You
I wanna sit at Your feet
Drink from the cup in Your hand
Lay back against You and breathe
Feel Your heartbeat
This love is so deep
It’s more than I can stand
I melt in Your peace
It’s overwhelming

Lord, please let me seek you with all of my heart both in the good times and the bad time, when we are happy and when we are sad, when we are sick and when we are healthy, when we don't know what tomorrow holds and what we will do tomorrow and when we can't wait for tommorrow to arrive. Lord I pray that everyday I seek you with everything within me. In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.

What Have You Been Reading????

As a lot of you may know, I really enjoy reading. I remember when I first got married I started reading the "Miss Julia" books and I remember my sweet hubby telling me one day how he felt like maybe he should be doing stuff with me because I was reading all the time.....which I do not mind him sitting around watching TV and movies if I have a good book to read!
If you look on the left side of our blog you will see a book shelf I have added and will be adding books that I am currently reading/planning on reading and just all time favorites.....there is an arrow under the book shelf to look at more books.....

Now that tax season is over I actually have a little time I can spend reading! I have finished several books since tax season ended and thought I would tell you a little bit about one of them....it is a true story and the name of the book is "Same Kind Of Different As Me". I first heard of this book through church. The authors were coming to speak and the book was being sold at our church so one Sunday morning I stopped by the book table and purchased this book. I thought it very interesting that the book took place in Louisiana and the DFW area. The book really opens your eyes and makes you remember even though we may seem different we are yet the same. It is about a man who was raised in Louisiana as a sharecropper. He hopped on a train one day and ended up living as a homeless person on the streets of Fort Worth.....there was a lady who listened to God and became very active at a homeless shelter in Fort Worth and her family befriended this homeless man and now is carrying the torch that she was initially carrying....I do not want to give too much away about the story because I want you to read the book. The book is written by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. The link to there website is http://www.samekindofdifferentasme.com/

It is really a great book that you will want to add to your library. I was talking to a friend of mine that I told her several times she needed to read the book and now that she has read it she said she does not even want to loan it out, she would rather go by a copy for others......that is how good the book really is!!!!

I am still here!!!

I know it seems as if it has been forever since I last updated our blog. We both have had so much going on between work and our volunteer work at church and just life. Hopefully, I will get quite a few things posted this weekend. I am actually home sick today - I went to the doctor and found out that I do not have Strep Throat - that is a blessing! I have been around way too many people the past few days and would have felt horrible if I had spread the germ to them. It was just my Eustachian tubes stopped up - so I guess that explains the sore throat along with the earache....so they gave me a shot (OUCH!!) and told me that I should be feeling better by this evening - and he said even in a couple of hours.....we are approaching the "couple of hours" and I do seem to feel a little better - not ready to run a marathon but feeling better. So if you are wondering what all I am going to be posting over the weekend here is a little preview.

1) Last Friday night and Saturday morning was our Women's Retreat at church.....this year's title was "If Wall's Could Talk" - the retreat was great and the speaker was phenomenal.

2) Saturday night we celabrated Sadies 2nd birthday! Sadie had 3 of her "pals" over that you read about on the blog already and they all seemed to have a great time......I will post more about that later to with pictures of the party along with pictures of the invitations, and doggie treats, etc.....

3) Last night, we had our Early Angels Mother's Day Dessert - this is the 2nd year EA has hosted the dessert at our church and just like last year it turned out wonderful. This year, Bryan Doyle spoke on "God's Plan"....I will post more on that later as well......

I am sure I am forgetting a few things that I do plan on posting but as you can tell, I have a lot of pictures on my camera I need to go download so I can post them to the blog....... It is a beautiful day here.....no rain although I think we had tornado warnings last night.....since I have been sick today I really have not watched the weather but as we all know it can change at any given second......
